T-S-10 OARSOME BOATRACE - the Quikky Boatrace rowing game in a Handdy portable pokket-size long hinged tin

IN STOCK

Level: easy

Age: 7 - 107

Time: 20 minutes per race

Description: you've heard about it often enough no doubt and here's your chance to experience some of what goes on in the Boatrace - and to test yourself against the best crew your mates can put together.

The race runs from Putney to Mortlake up the Thames loosely following the boat race course with the roll of the dice determining your station at the Start - Surrey or Middlesex, and then whether you raise the stroke rate or hit a bad patch and whether you gain an advantage or not against your opponent.

At  the gun both Crews throw their die and the highest scorer moves forward 1 space, and from then to the finish each Boat moves forward 1 space each turn and each throws with the highest moving forward a further space.

The winner is of course the first boat to cross the line at Mortlake

And don't forget to race Goldie against Isis as a starter.

TS-27 - THE BUMPS - a Quikky Rowing board game in a Handdy portable pokket-size long hinged tin.

IN STOCK

Level: fairly easy

Age: 7 - 107

Time: 20 minutes per race

Description: the Bumps is a rowing contest with a difference – a destruction derby on the river.  A bunch of 17 crews (or sometimes 18 but now it starts to get complicated) line up behind each other on the river about 150 feet apart and set off at the shot from a cannon – each crew tries to catch the crew in front and Bump their boat while all the time trying to avoid being Bumped by the crew behind.  Bumping can be anything from a gentle touch to major destruction and is usually a bit of a surprise to the chasing crew as they are all of course facing backwards so don't have a clue what is going on unless the Cox tells them.  If the Bumping bit isn't destructive enough for you, the overall winner – Head of the River - according to tradition, even gets to burn a boat at the end of the festivities.

This is a Quikky dice rolling game with simple rules for 1, to 6 players very loosely based on the rules of the Bumps - we couldn't fit 18 crews on the board and we certainly don't encourage any burning of boats at the end of the races.  Apart from that it has all the elements of luck, chaos and confusion you might expect in the real thing – over-bumps, double over-bumps and rowing over.

T-S-58 OARSOME REGATTA - the Quikky Henley Regatta rowing game in a Handdy portable pokket-size long hinged tin

IN STOCK

Level: easy

Age: 7 - 107

Time: 10 minutes per race

Description: you've heard about it often enough no doubt and here's your chance to experience some of what goes on at the Henley regatta - and to test yourself against the best crews your mates can put together.

You can choose which event you want to enter - eights, fours, pairs, singles - male or female, lightweight or not, professional or amateur and let the roll of the dice drive you across the water towards the Finish Line about 2000 metres away in the distance. You can choose to qualify by the fastest times racing in procession up river, or just go straight into the race where you will compete side by side and head-to-head against one crew at a time through the knock-out stages to the final.

At each turn both Crews move forward 1 space and then throw the dice - the higher scorer moves their boat ahead by 1 space, avoiding collisions with the lane markers and hanging on when the opposition put in an extra burst - or not of course.

The Winner will be the crew that crosses the Finish Line first in the final race.

You can also take time out to try the Henley Swim if the heat gets too much - in this it's a mass start with each participant throwing against the next in order round the table to progress, just to the Mile post in this case - quite enough I would think.

T-S-59 OARSOME TORPIDOS - the Quikky Oxford Bumps rowing game in a Handdy portable pokket-size long hinged tin

IN STOCK

Level: easy

Age: 7 - 107

Time: 20 minutes per race with 6 crews

Description: the Bumps is a rowing contest with a difference – a destruction derby on the river.  A bunch of Crews line up behind each other on the river about 1.5 boat lengths apart and set off at the shot from a cannon – each crew tries to catch the crew in front and Bump their boat while all the time trying to avoid being Bumped by the crew behind.  Bumping can be anything from a gentle touch to major destruction and is usually a bit of a surprise to the chasing crew as they are all of course facing backwards so don't have a clue what is going on unless the Cox tells them.

This is a Quikky dice rolling game with simple rules for 1, to 6 players very loosely based on the rules of the Bumps - we couldn't really fit a load of Crews on the board so you just have to take it as read that they are lined up in the botom right hand corner, and we've limited it to 6 Crews per Division as we ran out of different colour counters.  Apart from that it has all the elements of luck, chaos and confusion you might expect in the real thing – over-bumps, double over-bumps and rowing over.

At each turn both Crews move forward 1 space and then throw the dice - the higher scorer moves their boat ahead by 1 space, avoiding collisions with the lane markers and hanging on when the opposition put in an extra burst - or not of course.

The Winner will be the crew that ends up at the head of the Division after 4 days racing.

The name refers to the Torpids but there are also the Eights which occur in the summer if you prefer.
